Birmingham Taxis to see no Licenses in the Upcoming Years

The other most important thing to owning a car is to possess a driver's license. Whether it's a personal vehicle for an automobile or a one for public utility, the owner must own a license. This might come as a jolt to all taxi drivers operating in Birmingham. The British city is not going to allow any more of new black cabs to operate along the roads of Birmingham city. This came following a report revealing the fact that black cabs here have increased to surpass the demand ratio. The transport council of the city has thought about the issue and has come up with a plan that is going to freeze black cab licensing until the year 2013.

According to the licensing association of the city, they have planned out that the suspension would extend up till 2013. However, they are not too keen on reducing those which are already operating the Birmingham Roads. A survey made on the entire taxi industry unveiled the truth that most passengers complained of grouchy nature of taxi drivers. Moreover they deceived passengers by taking long routes making the ride costlier and tiring. The association even conducted a survey on taxis driving along the city roads. They have found out that majority of these taxis were around 10 years or more depicting a very shabby picture of the city. The licensing association has implemented a plan by which taxis of 14 years or more in age would be strictly driven out of the city.

The association has made it a point that all taxi owners should obey the rules set for betterment of the city. Obviously it doesn't look too good to have shabby and old cars across the roads. They fear that it would have a disastrous effect on the city's outlook Guests wouldn't like to visit a place portraying a scruffy faade. Well these old fleets are only going to add some more spice to the entire issue. Despite of some of their mechanically strong conditions, these old black cabs are going to turn as big no-no for the city.

The idea of discarding the old cabs has come as a blow to many taxi owners who have been in business since long. However they have cordially greeted the other clause where the licensing association has strictly banned the licensing of taxis in the next 3-4 years of time. One of the members of the Taxi Association of Birmingham had said that it is difficult for them to make room for wheelchairs and so they have to refuse passengers moving in wheelchairs. A discussion was also held to provide solutions for issues arising out of taxis queuing up on busy roads. They want that legitimate taxi businesses should only operate across the cities busiest streets. These taxis must bear with taxi insurance cost in order to purchase a proper taxi insurance policy. Illegitimate businesses have no room in Birmingham.
