Everybody loves a good party. Parties are occasions where people gather together for socialization or recreation. The celebrants and the guests will then sing Happy Birthday or, more rarely, For Hes a Jolly Good Fellow.

Birthdays for young adults in the western world tend to emphasize partying: music, dancing, food, liquor, and socializing. Different cultures and religious groups have their own birthday traditions. The bar mitzvah is a Jewish rite of passage for boys on their 13th birthday.In Hinduism, a celebrants 12th or 13th birthday is celebrated with a grand thread ceremony.

Many major religions celebrate the birth of their deities or founders such as Buddhas Birthday in Buddhist Cultures and Christmas in some Christian countries.
