Black Tie Looks - The Classic And Contemporary
Black ties are the extreme of the male formal wear

Trousers
The dinner trousers material and color need to match the dinner jackets. They need to have a single braid along seams matching the lapel facing and cut for suspenders. No belt.
Black Tie Waist Covering
Waist covering is not meant to be worn with double breasted dinner jacket. If you are wearing a single breasted jacket, you can pair it with cummerbund or a waistcoat. The cummerbunds material needs to match the lapel facing's. The waistcoat can be made from silk or the same material as the jacket.
Black Tie Shirt
The shirt has to be white, with wing or turn down collar. The front of the shirt can be either pleated or pique. The shirt also needs to have eyelets for cuffs and French cuffs for links.
Black Tie Neckwear
At formal evening events, you can only wear silk black bow tie.
Formal Footwear
Patent leather black pumps are the norms, even though patent or highly polished oxfords are also acceptable.
The Right Accessories
The accessories are limited to studs and cuff links (gold, black or mother of pearl), suspenders of black or white silk, white linen or silk handkerchief.
Outerwear
Any dressy coats are acceptable, especially chesterfield coat. Remember that a trench coat (raincoat) is not. Complete the look with an evening silk white scarf with tassels.
Warm Weather Black Tie
In the summer or in tropical countries, a lighter look of this ensemble is allowed. Warm weather black tie allows you to wear white or ivory dinner jacket and colored linen or silk handkerchief, as well as opting out of the waistcoat. Otherwise, everything needs to follow the classic black tie requirements.
