Everyone is hearing the word blog now. It seems as if everyone has one or is using one. So is it really important to have a blog or is it all hype? Well, here are some numbers that might make you think. According to JC Williams Group, "91% say consumer reviews are the #1 aid to buying decisions." Marketing Sherpa says, "87% trust a friends recommendations over critics review" and Jupiter Research states that people are "three times more likely to trust peer opinions over advertising for purchasing decisions." Lastly, according to BuzzAgent, one word-of-mouth conversation has impact of 200 TV ads.

So what you do you say? Is a blog an important tool to add to your companies or careers marketing strategy? I would say YES! Here are three reasons why you should have one:

1. Establishes you as an authority. A blog is a place where you add value to your clients, consumers or fans. The more you write about a given topic, industry or niche, the more useful content that is floating around the Internet acting as octopus tentacles grabbing peoples attention and leading them to what you have to offer.

2. Google loves blogs! Google doesnt really like old content. Rather this super human search engine loves fresh content and sends out his little minions or so called robots and spiders to scour the digital realm of cyber space to bring back new content. The more your blog or site has new content the more your organic search engine ranking improves. Another of saying this is new content helps you move closer to page one of Google.

3. Generates Word-of-Mouth! If you are writing super awesome blogs consistently, people are going to keep coming back to see what you have to say about your industry or niche. Remember, blogs help establish you as an authority. Once youre an authority, people are going to like, know and trust you and in turn do business with you. AND they are going to tell other people they know to check out your blog for great news and tips relating to whatever youre industry or niche!
