With the ever increasing of computers fuelled by internet

, the next concern troubling the world is the problem of data storage. With every passing second, the internet servers have many gigabytes of data to be stored around the world.

These blue ray discs can be described as optical discs that handsomely supersede the storage capacity of the DVDs. This concept arises healthy when we talk about high definition data storages that are quite big in size. Here are some features offered in the discs:

a)They offer space upto 25 GB on single side, while you can go for double sided discs with space of 50 GB. Amazing!

b)The dimensions of these discs are same as that of a normal DVD or VCD.

c)These discs use laser light of short wavelength when compared to DVDs. This concept multiplies the data storage capacities of these discs.

d)These discs are compatible with the presence of optical pick up unit. The formula lies on precise focussing of red lasers on the discs.

e)They support large number of formats and are widely accepted by the production companies who are concerned with release of large amount of data. The movies released with blue ray discs are concerned with high definition where large details of the screens are stored. Even the audio is cleared with very negligible disturbance.

f)The name is Blue ray simply because the light laser that is responsible to read data from the disc uses the blue violet laser.

g)Videos of approximately more than 9 hours can be stored in these discs. These videos can be of high definition and can span around 50 GB.

h)This does need a new cartridge to read the data. The errors and efficiency are recorded more than that of DVDs.

i)Hard coating is provided for data security that is not available in case of DVDs.

With so many features, the concept of blue ray discs is expected to overtake the world of DVDs. The only fact that might raise concern is the price tags. The blue ray discs are more costly are compared to DVDs and the players to play them are also expensive. However, the next set of release planned for PCs and laptops are planned to come with inbuilt features to real blue ray discs that will slowly shadow the use of DVDs and soon this VCDs and DVDs will become history.
