Body Detox Diet
Have you ever thought about the many toxins you put in your body every day
? From the preservatives and additives in your processed foods to the pollution found all around it is enough to boggle the mind. For the most part the body works diligently to rid your system of anything harmful, but with the ongoing onslaught sometimes, it can get a bit behind. This is one reason many people consider going on a body detox diet, these particular diets only last for a short period of time after which the user returns to their normal activities.
Toxic Symptoms
Though there is debate over the necessity of a detox diet, research is beginning to show that over time and due to the massive amounts of toxins, the body can become overloaded. These toxins then deposit in fat cells and lead to a wide range of symptoms. Suggested problems include hormonal imbalances, malnutrition and a sluggish metabolism. These issues then lead to bad breath, skin blemishes and poor digestion.
There are people with weight loss issues, allergies and other medical problems who swear a detox diet cured them completely. These claims, while many, have not thoroughly been evaluated by medical professionals. Of course, if you are the one who has relief from debilitating problems you probably will not care about the research or statistics.
Benefits
Removing the buildup of toxins from the body can have many benefits. The skin is the single largest organ of the human body and it reflects the internal condition. Cleansing will often show first in the skin; blemishes will often clear up within days of beginning your detox diet. Other benefits include improved energy levels, feeling more focused and better digestion.
Diet
There are many ways you can do a body detox diet; in some cases, fasting for a few days prior to the detox is suggested while other techniques call for a simple diet change over the course of 7-30 days. Some of the foods you can expect to consume while on this diet will include:
Fruits- fresh, frozen, dried or canned
Vegetables- fresh, raw, frozen or canned in water without salt
Whole grains
Water
High fiber foods
The Process
When you do a body detox, regardless of the method you choose, you will want to have some free time on your hands. Food, fluids and air come into the body through the mouth and nose and they exit the opposite end, you will want to be near a bathroom especially in the first few days.
Conclusion
If you are feeling sick, tired or suffering from being overweight a detox diet could be the answer. As you remove the harmful toxins from your system enzymes, hormones and electrolytes begin to balance causing a definite increase in energy as well as feel good hormones. The first few days of your diet however may not be so cheerful, since you will be avoiding things you normally consume every day, such as coffee, tea and soda you may have a headache for a few days. Remember, always talk with your family doctor before beginning anything as intense as a body detox diet, if you have certain illnesses you should never try this type of diet.
