In 1907 the Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club was founded and is known to be one of the oldest lifesaving clubs in the world. Like any beach there are numerous sports and recreational activities that take place on the beach. Such activities include a marathon which is held usually every year where Bondi Beach marks the end point of the race. The race circuit stretches from Bondi Beach to the CBD of the city. Other activities are sculpture competitions on the beach and film festivals. In addition to these activities Bondi Beach market is also a fun place to walk around and check out some local fare.
