Booking Cheap Flights In South Africa
South Africa has seven airports with regular scheduled cheap flights
. These airports are located in all of the major cities throughout the country with the three main airports being Johannesburgs OR Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and Durbans King Shaka International Airport.
There are four airlines in the budget air travel market offering cheap flights, namely Kulula.com, 1Time Airlines, Mango Airlines (operated by the national carrier South African Airways) and Velvet Sky Aviation. These four airlines offer a number of scheduled single class flights throughout South Africa. These low cost carriers differ from the full service carriers such as South African Airways and British Airways in that they do not provide in-flight meals included in the airline ticket's price. They do offer on board food and beverages which customers can purchase during the flight and qualified and friendly cabin crew to deal with the needs of passengers. They also do not offer the additional services such as frequent flier miles, business class seats and business and first class lounges.
Domestic flights between the major airports in South Africa are available from all four of the budget airlines. However, smaller destinations are serviced less frequently and by fewer of the airlines. The low cost airlines routes include flights to destinations such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, George, Port Elizabeth, East London and Bloemfontein.
As with the full service carriers, many of the low cost airlines offering cheap flights in South Africa offer a host of additional services for their passengers including loyalty clubs boasting reduced fares and redeemable points, holiday packages, credit cards, and ticket-less flight booking.
In an effort to make air travel available for all South Africans they also offer a number of payment options for passengers, which do not limit passengers to credit card payments. Payment options include Electronic Funds Transfers and bank deposits, FNB cell phone banking payments and e-bucks payments with airlines such as Mango Airlines offering the additional convenience of booking flights at Checkers and Shoprite supermarkets.
The four low cost airlines all host user friendly online booking facilities and easy check-in options making them a popular choice with passengers looking for cheap flights in South Africa. They have easy to navigate, user friendly websites with up to date information on specials and discount deals on offer. Many of these low cost airlines, such as Kulula.com and 1Time Airlines offer additional services for passengers such as car hire, accommodation and holiday packages. These additional services are available on their websites and can be booked at the same time as the flight via the booking form.
There are also a number of online agencies offering price comparison and online booking options for all the airlines in one place. Customers can search for flights between their selected destinations and on or around their preferred dates of travel and compare the prices for available flights offered by the various airlines with flights matching those dates.
