Your local Boston BMW dealership has become a middleman in the process of buying a BMW 1 Series thanks to a new interactive website. BMWnow invites consumers to build their own 1 Series M Coupe online. Of course, your local Boston BMW dealer is still very important as they will help walk you through the process and your Boston BMW dealership will be your site of pick up for your newly created masterpiece. But thanks to the new website, consumers can truly understand the options available with the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe before heading to their Boston BMW dealer lot.
The website BMWUSA.com starts by offering consumers a choice to "build your own" BMW, any model you want. On the very right hand side of the site, you'll find the link for my favorite model: the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. The base price of this vehicle is $46,135, but don't worry, we'll find plenty of add-ons.
Consumers will first be faced with three exterior paint colors: the average but always-classy black (but spruced-up with the official name of Metallic Sapphire Black) and white (called Alpine White), or the go-getter, look-at-me-in-this-whip color of Valencia Orange. For kicks, lets choose orange (add $550 to the price).
Moving to the inside of the vehicle, consumers are first shown their premium leather seating. The black leather is also trimmed in orange stitching (good thing we picked that orange exterior paint color!).
Next comes the optional packages. The first is the Premium Package and adds $2,400 to your overall ticket price. This package includes Lumbar support, BMW Assist with Bluetooth, auto-dimming rearview, interior and exterior mirrors, power front seats with driver seat memory, ambiance lighting and iPod/USB adapter. For $2,700 more, the Convenience Package is perfectly named. The premium package is part of the convenience package and is joined by a navigation system, rear park distance control, keyless entry, and an anti-theft alarm system. Only catch is, you have to purchase both packages if you want the Convenience Package.
Next come the options, which are a little expensive (but you'll want them, trust me). Heated front seats are an extra $500 and a necessity for your derriere in Boston winters. "BMW Apps" are another $250 and would be one of those discussions you'd want to have with a salesman at your Boston BMW dealership (to the tune of, what is a BMW APP?). Satellite Radio with 1 year of service is $350 (we'll pass for now). Finally, a Harman Kardon surround sound system is $875 (but will make cruising down the coast even more fun we'll take it).
Finally, available accessories include a maintenance program for $3,295 and an "assist convenience plan" for $199. Lets leave those off this time.
A service system of 4-years/50,000 miles warranty and maintenance and 4-years/unlimited miles of roadside service are all included in the original price of the vehicle. Therefore, for a grand total of $54,035, we can drive off in our flashy, capable and free-spirited BMW 1 Series M Coupe as soon as it gets delivered to the dealer lot (which should take a relatively short amount of time).
