Mercedes-Benz strikes again. Or should I say strikes it rich? With several prestigious awards already in their glove compartment this year, Mercedes-Benz beat out some tough competitors in the readers survey from Sport Auto magazine. Boston used Mercedes dealers are proud to know one of their models was chosen by consumers.

The Sportiest Cars of 2010 survey says the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG gullwing model deserves kudos in the super sports class. Capturing 17.2 percent of the votes and leaving their competition in the dust, the SLS AMG was too much for other cars from Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain, Sweden, France and the United States. Here is where RI used Mercedes SL-Class owners can take a bow for choosing such a favored brand and knowing that most of the world agrees with them.

Every year the magazine pits the top performance-tuned and series-production vehicles against each other through the survey. This year there were a total of 260 vehicles rates in 25 categories. About 10,000 readers voted and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG came out on top. It also was on top when it was tested. With a front-mid V8, 6.3-liter engine that has dry sump lubrication and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission with transaxle modification, the sports suspension featuring a double wishbone suspension SLS AMG offers excellent driving dynamics.

During a racing super test the SLS AMG had a lap time of 7.40 minutes on the Nordschleife of the Nurburgring. This prompted it to receive accolades like magnificent machine. It also has received more formal recognition since launching in 2009 at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany. Last year it was the GT Car of the Year and was given the Golden Steering Wheel 2009. This year Auto Bild gave the SLS AMG a Design Award.

Boston used Mercedes customers will not be disappointed with anything about the SLS AMG, except maybe the fact that they didnt own one sooner. When it comes to a precision sports vehicle like this, you just know when its meant for you and once you get behind the wheel thats it.
