Shopping for a bra is probably not that high on your list of fun things to do

. With this in mind, you probably also don't put a lot of thought into it. Eventually, this will result in the purchase of bras that simply are not good fits for your body.

Time is not on our side. With the passage of time comes changes to our body. You might gain weight. A lucky few might lose weight. Gravity slowly, but surely, will take its toll. Just as you don't wear the size 1 you wore when you were 16, your bra size is going to change as well. With this in mind, here are some helpful bra shopping tips.

Get Measured

When was the last time you had a professional bra fitting? Can you even remember? Most women go years and years without having it done. This is a big mistake. Your breast will change shape as time passes. If you gain weight, the bust size will grow and so will the measurement around your chest. If you are showing back fat when putting on your bra, the size is most likely wrong. A professional fitting can make a world of difference in how you look and feel.

Mix It Up

When was the last time you bought a different style of bra? Most women buy the same couple of bras over and over. I am certainly guilty of this. The problem with this approach is bra design is improving all the time. Most women can't stand getting poked by underwire bras, for instance, but new designs have minimized the "pokeability" of these bras. It makes a world of difference! Try new bras and you might just find a perfect bra for your body type.

Stop Cramming

Breasts are not like your derriere. There is no benefit to cramming them into a bra size smaller than you should wear. Women with larger busts, however, do this all the time. The breast do not benefit from being crushed into a cup and forced up against the chest wall. Be comfortable with your size. Consider breast reduction surgery if you are really bothered by being a larger size. Crushing the girls is not a healthy approach to the problem.

When it comes to buying bras, don't just automatically follow your usual routine. Think it through, get fitted and try new styles and brands. You might just find the perfect bra.
