Breaking Up On Facebook

Have you ever been dumped by a change of Facebook Relationship Status

? Apparently the new and easy break up method by switching to "Single" is getting more and more popular. It might have already happened to people on your friend list or whoever reading this article. Yes. Like it or not, breaking up on Facebook is almost like a trend now.

In fact, a recent poll shows that one out of four newly dumped Facebook users found out about the breakup by seeing it publicly broadcast on Facebook. Ouch!

A dating application named AreYouInterested surveyed 1,000 Facebook uses on its Page. It has found out that many people choose to break the news to their no-longer-beloved partners via the popular social platform.

Almost 25% of respondents found out their own relationship was over by seeing it on Facebook first. This scene has been the catching points of people when they open the news feed. They check friends' status. More often, many comments and likes. This creates a kind of pressure of disclosing relationship status on Facebook.

Almost 21% of them have changed their Relationship Status to substitute a breakup phone call or face-to-face, one-one-one meeting.

Nearly 40% of respondents have updated their status on Facebook so the person they're dating sees they have plans.

Nearly 35% of the survey takers have made use of the Relationship Status on Facebook, creating an illusion that they have moved on after breakups, even when they have not in reality.

The vast majority of respondents to this survey were guys; just 30% of survey takers were women. How would you have responded to this poll? Would you ever break up with a guy or girl via a Facebook status change? Do you think such behavior is acceptable? Let us know your opinions in the comments.
