Brian Setzer Orchestra Tickets - Brian Setzer Orchestra Resumes Christmas Rocks! Tour
After taking a year off, the Brian Setzer Orchestra is resuming its annual Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza Tour
. The road trip will begin in Detroit, Mich. on Dec. 20 and will feature Setzer and his famed orchestra performing songs from the lauded Christmas Rocks! album and other non-holiday tracks such as songs from Setzer's latest album, Songs From Lonely Avenue, which debuted at the No. 4 spot on Billboard's jazz chart. The BSO will be making stops in Reading, Pa.; Atlantic City, NJ; New York City, NY; Nashville, Tenn.; Albuquerque, NM; Coachella, Calif.; Universal City, Calif. and other cities.
Christmas Rocks! and a DVD of a 2006 concert for PBS have been packaged as The Ultimate Christmas Collection, but fans of the band know that the best way to enjoy their Yuletide selections is with a live show. Take a look at Brian Setzer Orchestra tickets today! In their tradition of blending rockabilly, blues and jazz, they are sure to deliver holiday hits like "Jingle Bells," "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Baby It's Cold Outside."
Brian Setzer recently spoke with Billboard online about the upcoming tour, saying, "I didn't go out last year, so I'm really looking forward to playing this Christmas. This Christmas tour now is pretty much whatever I want to do. I still do a lot of the Christmas songs, but I want to play some of the...Lonely Avenue stuff, Stray Cats stuff..." Although Setzer doesn't have any plans to play with the guys from his former Stray Cats band, he did say that he missed them and would definitely play with them in the future, even if it means performing at "the corner bar" instead of abroad like they have in the past.
Right now Setzer is too busy to ponder touring with the Stray Cats, with a BSO tour on the horizon and a new album on the shelves titled Songs from Lonely Avenue. Setzer worked on the album with 87-year-old veteran arranger Frank Comstock, known for his work with Benny Carter, Stan Kenton and Judy Garland, among others, whom he calls a "hoot" and "the last one of his generation." Setzer was inspired by 1940s and '50s-era film noir themes when recording Songs from Lonely Avenue and hinted to Billboard online that he would like to see someone (ahem, Quentin Tarantino) make a film based on the 13-track album.
Setzer assembled his 17-piece big band in Los Angeles in 1990 in the wake of the breakup of Stray Cats and an ill-fated stint as a solo roots rocker. The Brian Setzer Orchestra enjoyed massive success with their cover of Louis Prima's hit song "Jump Jive an' Wail" on the group's third album, The Dirty Boogie, and since then Setzer has churned out albums both solo and with his orchestra.
