Whats more, a thinning ozone layer especially in extreme northern and southern latitudes and at certain times of the year means more UV energy is reaching the Earths surface. Prolonged exposure to UV rays usually leads to the person developing non-melanoma skin cancers; however, there are instances of melanoma cancer being caused from exposure, too.
