Brighten up your garden

When it comes to your garden, either you look at it and see a big space of nothing or a wonderful place to experiment. If it is the latter then you are in for a lot of hard work, sweat and time. But, with a little garden now how and a few garden ornaments everyone can end up with lovely colourful flower beds, a healthy vegetable patch and a beautiful decking area to sit and relax on.

But there is an easier way, you could pay a gardener to come in once a week and let him turn your garden into a nice space or you can cheat and buy lots of different to put colour and fun into a boring garden.

There are so many variations of garden ornaments, it is hard to choose what looks best and you don't have to spend a lot of money to make a boring corner come to life. There are plastic or wooden flower planters, even novelty planters that, with only one flower in them will grow, if watered and occasionally fed, and look lovely. Then there are hanging baskets that will brighten up a wall and can look lovely all year round.

If you have no spare money you can use anything as a flower planter. From an old style kitchen sink to an old welly boot, potted up with flowers or vegetables they will do the same as a planter but it will bring a bit of fun into your garden and as you are recycling you are also being resourceful.

Alternatively, on a plain house wall you could hang a thermometer or clock so while you are relaxing in your garden, you can keep on eye on the time or see how hot the temperature gets too.

Water features are also a must for any garden. Having water running through pitchers or fountains is a soothing and relaxing sound that helps you relax and unwind after a stressful day in the office. We are encouraged to help our garden birds survive and a couple of ways is to have a bird bath or put some food out. The birds soon find which garden has feeders or if food is thrown onto the grass or if a bird bath is there to bathe in and have a splash, a wash or a cool down. With the feeders you can place them in a tree or fence post and even attach them to your window so you can see them up close.

With all the flowers and vegetables growing and looking good in your garden a couple of useful garden ornaments to have are a compost bin and a water butt. The compost bin comes in different style's and sizes but if you use a wooden one you can paint it to stand out and be a feature rather than something that should be hidden. Also a water butt is essential as to keep your flowers and vegetables watered and again helps you save money if attached to your drain pipes.

Gardens don't need to stop looking good when the sun goes down either. Solar lighting is a lovely way of highlighting your garden ornaments or borders or can even be used to mark out a path way to the bottom of your garden and they are environmentally friendly and easy to install. Solar lighting is useful and decorative and there are so many different variations to choose from.
