Brow Lift Complications: Be Prepared For Any Risks
Getting a brow lift can help you look much younger than your years
. Fortunately, the recovery time is not long at all, so you can improve your look quite easily with this procedure. However, like any type of operation, there are some risks that you may experience. Finding out about them prior to the procedure is important so that you know what to expect if you feel any discomfort during recovery.
Some patients may find that they cannot move their forehead or eyebrows after surgery. While this may occur in some people, it is not normal in general. You should notify your doctor immediately, as you might have to have another surgery to fix the issue. As with anything, the sooner the better.
In some cases, you may have hair loss near the incision. The hair may or may not grow back, so keep that in mind before you get surgery. Of course, there may also be some scarring afterwards, and in some patients it is more obvious than in others. Find out from your doctor where the scar will be located, and how large it will likely be. This way you can prepare for it.
Any operation also presents the risk of having no sensation on or near the incision. The area could be numb for a while, or it could be numb forever. Additionally, any incision presents a risk of infection. If you notice that it is abnormally red or inflamed after a few days, and you have a fever, get to your doctor as soon as possible to get treatment. An infection is usually easy to treat right away, but can become a big complication if you do not seek help for it.
In most cases, the smaller the brow lift incision, the fewer the complications. It is for this reason that most people who get endoscopic surgery report fewer complications. It makes sense since the endoscopic procedure requires a tiny incision compared to a larger one for the traditional operation. If your doctor can perform this type of procedure, it makes sense to ask about it due to the more advanced technology used and the fewer risks as a result.
In most cases, if you weigh the benefits against the possible complications, brow lift surgery is worth it. You can look younger no matter what your age. Additionally, most risks are quite rare, but you should still be aware of them just in case.
