Natural Remedies That Relieve Acid Reflux & Heartburn
I have only come up with a handful of natural remedies that are passed on by others and seem to work
. Below I go over a few of these remedies from natural resources.
Overwhelmingly apple cider vinegar is the number one remedy when it comes to naturally controlling acid reflux.
Apple cider vinegar has the potential to improve overall health. So I tried this remedy and bingo, my acid reflux problems were not near as bad as they had been previously.
Depending on who you talk to, 2-3 doses of apple cider vinegar a day will do wonders for many things. I mix a heaping tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a 8 ounce glass of water, mix well and drink. It isn't the most pleasant thing I ever tasted, but believe me, it does what it is intended to do with relieving acid reflux.
Moving on we will go over more natural treatments for acid reflux disease;
I talked with several people out there that say drinking a couple ounces of pickle juice helped control their acid reflux problems. I have yet to try this remedy, but many people swear by it.
You have heard that old saying"eat an apple a day, keeps the doctor away" well in the case of acid reflux, eating a couple apples a day is going to relieve the symptoms of acid reflux disease. I have talked to a few people who eat an apple shortly before bed every night. Recently I have tried to eat an apple every night before bed. I have noticed my reflux being dormant for the most part, but again, I have been watching what I eat and how I eat it, not eating to much at one time.
Aloe Vera is another natural product used in treating heartburn and acid reflux symptoms. The juice from the aloe vera plant is another natural home remedy that is used to soothe an irritated stomach and esophagus. Using , approximately 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice is taken (by adults) approximately 20 minutes before a meal.
Slippery elm is a folk remedy that hasn't yet been studied for heartburn. The inner bark contains mucilage, a gel-like substance that swells when it is mixed with water. Many old timers have been using slippery elm for years in their treatment for heartburn and acid reflux.
Licorice and anise are being used more an more now days in preventing and managing the symptoms of acid reflux disease and heartburn.
I have found with my own experience that licorice soothes the stomach and relieves my symptoms of heartburn. I usually eat a piece of licorice before my meal, one after my meal and one piece before bedtime.
Orange extract is a remedy many are using for acid reflux and many other ailments. In fact, orange peel extract has been used in cancer studies for many years with no adverse effects. This is a very promising natural remedy for many disorders.
Baking soda can give fast relief of acid reflux when ingested. I have never tried it, but many say drinking water with a couple teaspoons of baking soda will relieve heartburn and acid reflux in no time.
