Super-sets are just like the extra value meals of exercise, more of everything you want, at a lower cost. Super sets can give you more muscle in less time; also there will be less energy usage and even less boredom. If it were not for super sets most trainers would need a larger gym space. It is recommended that you use super-sets about 90% of the time; it is great for those in a rush, and to build muscle fast.
You probably know a thing or two about super sets. You have to alternate among sets of different exercises with little rest in between, rather then murdering all the sets over one exercise before moving onto the next. Say you wanted to do four sets each seated cable rolls, and bench presses, 10 reps per set, with two minutes of rest between sets. Now assume each rep takes about 6 seconds, so a complete set will take you about 60 seconds. With just straight sets, that will take 24 minutes. How about we super set these two exercises and take 90 seconds of rest between each exercise.
So you would do a set of bench presses, rest 90 seconds, then we will do a set of rows, rest 90 seconds and then you repeat. This time, you will complete the same program in 20 minutes, now is that not a beautiful thing? But the key difference is that you now get 44 minutes to recover between the alternating sets of bench pressing and rows. Now this means you can use more weight for these exercises and, as a result, get more total work done in ways less of a time frame. Now with some creativity you can use your super sets to build more muscle, burn fat, lose weight, and get stronger -- insanely fast.
