Building Plans of Model Eva Herzigova Spark Outrage In Chelsea

Model Eva Herzigova is becoming more and more unpopular with her neighbours in a street in Chelsea due to her plans for renovation work at her property. The five storey 19th century house is to be completed renovated leaving just the facade of the house in its original state.

Eva already has permission from the planners to extend the existing lower ground floor. She wants to create space for a staff kitchen and a sitting room. She also wants to dig a 60 ft long basement which will run the full length of the house continuing underneath the garden. The planning application was submitted a Jersey based company called Lune Blue, a company through which Eva is said to have bought the house back in 2009.

Now the company has submitted different plans to totally demolish nearly all of the property and just leave the front. The planners from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea rejected the plans back in December because they felt that the character of the street would be spoiled. The street actually lies in a conservation area so it is hardly surprising. Lune Blue lodged an appeal in January against the decision taken by the planners and they expect to gain a decision on 19th May this year.

Local residents have hired a top QC to fight back against the appeal, they are outraged that the proposed work is likely to take 18 months to complete. Eva lives in another property and has just given birth to another son with her partner, Italian entrepreneur Gregorio Marsiaj. However she has taken advice from Nicholas de Lotbiniere who works for the London Planning Practice as a consultant. He has previously represented Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Chelsea player Frank Lampard with their planning disputes. The planning consultant will not comment on individual cases.

Residents are worried about the noise and the huge disruption that building work of this size will create. They fear that due to the complete renovation and excavating work being proposed then there will be limitless skips being filled and skip lorries driving by all the time. The road is one way and very narrow so they are worried that this will cause even more of a disruption, security issues could also arise and the parking for the residents will become a nightmare.

One local said that he feared that if this application was granted then it would set a precedent in the area for others to do the same. Huge amounts of earth and debris will have to be removed and the digging will cause huge vibrations in neighbouring properties. Some locals feel that if the work was for a fancy development which would benefit all of them they would not mind so much and would have to put up with the upheaval. But this is all for one person wanting more storage space and room underground and they feel that it is totally unnecessary. Spokesmen for Eva Herzigova declined to comment on the case.
