Building Your Client List by Building Your Pipeline
Having a pipeline for your business means having clients for your business which earns revenue and puts you on the road to success. Being a new consultant means you're starting with little to no pipeline so lets look at ways to build a pipeline for your business. Building your pipeline might take time, but doesn't have to be hard with these easy tips.
1) Decide who your target audience is. Before you can even began to build your pipeline you need to know your target audience. Who are your potential clients? Knowing your target audience takes research and knowing your product.
2) Setup a database of prospects. To set up your database of prospects you need to do your research. Doing your research is something you might have done when deciding what industry/industries your expertise will best serve so if you did take another look at those prospects and make sure you didn't miss any. If you didn't do any research then now is the time. To get prospects at first you might need to buy or rent lists from a list broker if you don't already have a potential list and contact details. Although it helps to have your own leads. Your prospects will be your target audience.
3) Know what you are selling. In order to build your pipeline you need to know your target audience and to know your target audience you need to know what your selling and who you want to sell it to or who's the most likely to need, want, and buy what you're selling.
4) Create a communication package. Now that you have your target audience and a built prospect list complete with contact details it's time to start communicating with them. In your communication package you want to decide how you're going to communicate with prospects, your communication package will help you build credibility and trust for your business. Decide if you're going to communicate through letters, emails, phone calls, twitter, Facebook, etc. However you decide to contact your prospects be sure to be ready and that you are effectively communicating what your business can do for the prospect and why they should give you the business. Be ready to pitch and provide information requested.
5) Automate your marketing process. Consistency and more Consistency. Be consistent by constantly updating your prospects list to stay current and follow-up with your potential prospects. Try implementing a CRM System such as Business Contact Manager to help with this task, it's simple and will save you time. Once you find a marketing mix that works for you and your business stick with it. Remember, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Remembering these tools will help you build the pipeline for your business quickly and effectively. Do your research, Develop a good effective marketing mix, and be consistent.
