Burr Coffee Grinder

Fundamentally, roasted coffee beans need grinding or milling in order to brew them

. Grinding or milling is done to facilitate the brewing process and it is an important aspect as grinders strongly affect the quality of brewing because it needs to be matched with the brewing method used. The finest coffee will be produce with both factors working in perfect harmony.

There are two types of coffee grinder and they are either burrs or blades. With moving grinding wheel and stationary surface, the burr coffee grinder crushes the beans instead of chopping them like a normal blade coffee grinder would do. The burr is positioned in a specific way which regulate the ground size, thus making the grinding process more reliable than merely using a blade coffee grinder. With burr coffee grinder, even grounds are produced and hence the coffee flavor is more consistent.

Within the burr category, there are two different kinds, namely the Wheel Burr and the Conical Burr. They differ particularly in terms of price and how they work. Basically, the wheel burr can spin very fast and so it is noisier. Moreover, the high speed rotation means the grinder is messier as well. Nevertheless, it is cheaper as compared to the Conical Burr. The latter burr spins slower and therefore it is quieter, less messy and most likely not to clog. It can be used for either oily or flavored coffee beans which makes this kind of burr more expensive.

Burrs also offer a range of sizes for the grounds, from powdery or coarse grounds and these burrs work differently in various types of coffee makers, including the espresso machines, French presses or even the normal coffee makers. With these grinders make available, one can have the freshest cup of coffee whenever possible and even saves ones time and money from buying it from the coffee shop.
