How do I choose the correct CCTV camera for my application?

Many aspects of the CCTV installations must be taken into consideration in order to obtain the correct performance levels for your requirements.

A high resolution camera should be considered where greater detail of the scene is required.

Choosing a more sensitive camera will improve the reproduction of the image in poorly lit areas.

A conventional camera produces a pale backdrop when an object is shot against a white background.

BLC (which is back light compensation) will counter strong light sources, retaining picture quality.

Concentrated light sources directed towards the camera (e.g. car head lamps) can be inverted by an optional peak white inverter or an eclipser function. This has the effect of bringing detail to areas and making an object clear, that would otherwise be shadowed.

Why do I have a clear sharp picture in the day and it is out of focus at night?

This is due to the depth of the field of change as the light conditions change and can be easily overcome by the following set procedures.

What size monitor should I be using?

The correct size monitor is dependent on the amount of cameras that you are using, the quality of the picture that you need, the size of the picture that you need, the number of images to be displayed at any given time, the viewing distance and the available space.

So, in other words, it means how far you need to see with that particular camera.

If you have eight cameras on one screen, the monitor would then need to be a little bit bigger.

There are different inch sizes on your LCDs. LCD will give you a lot clearer picture.

If you only need to have one camera, then you will only need a relatively small monitor.
