Most people that visit Cambodia will visit Angkor Wat temple. Angkor Wat temple and the surrounding temples are so nice to be visited at sunrise and in the early morning and late in the afternoon time towards sunset. There are 2 reasons for this, the light creates a totally different atmosphere, and it is not so hot. Break up your day and avoid the heat of the hot sun. Your pass will be valid for as many visits as you wish - so wake up early, and see the sites of Ankor before it turn hot. Then, mid to late morning, come back to your hotel or guest house in Siem Riep to unwind in the heat of the day. Then, when the weather cools down, revisit to the temples for sunset.

Take your time - if you like to rent a bicycle (pedal or electric), this is the cool ways to see the temples, and it gives you independence but if you are not used to riding in hot environments it may be a bit hard.

Just about everybody in around Angkor Wat is a "guide". Moto dops (motorbike taxis) will frequently tell you they are guides but just take you from one place to another place. Some guides from the guesthouses are so nice - but do not be careless, many of them have no idea and make things up, and some just reel out dates and figures. A best pocket guide book of the temples and history of Angkor Wat, or a nice Cambodia vacation guide book will be so useful for historical background and also maps. Then, your personal intuition is far the best guide.

Assure that you drink a lot of water. It might be very hot, and it is too easy to dehydrate. Soft drinks can be bought everywhere around the temple grounds although at a somewhat higher price than in the town. Be cautious of ice from the stalls around the temples.

If you wanna eat around Angkor temple, you could find small eateries everywhere. Food is mostly local. If you need western food, there are several restaurants near the main entrance to the Angkr Wat.

You should take insect repellant if you visit in the late afternoon / evening.

It is important to wear a hat - if you don't have one, they are for sale at everywhere.

Put on decent shoes and be careful with your feet. Thongs could seem comfortable, but climbing around the the Angkor might be unsmooth, sweaty, sharp and some places very dusty. Cambodian travel could be tough on the feet!

If you are visiting Cambodia for more than one day, you will need a photograph for a multi day pass. Have a passport photo with you BEFORE you get to the temples. There is a facility to take photos at the entrance, but there can be long queues.

Assure to take a lot of photos in this country, then sharing them with people in your country when you turn back is a really good thing.
