Box is still used and there is a legitimate reason of it. It is possible that certain business or individual does not possess a regular mail delivery. There are rural areas in which mail delivery is not possible, so P.O. Box address is used to send shipment or package delivery.

Certain courier companies provide the services of delivering the shipment to a P.O. Box, while other companies do not cater to such purposes. The courier companies such as messenger service in Chicago that are not providing this service have a legitimate reason of not catering this need of the customers.

Safety and security of the package of the customer is the first priority of every courier service provider. It is a matter of serious concern for the courier company as well as the customer. Generally, the P.O. Box is located in an area or facility where guardian business may or may not be present. A courier company cannot guarantee the safety of the product since it is not legal to leave the package without any signature of the customer.

In the absence of the adjunctive business without any facility in the premises of the P.O. Box, it is not legal for the delivery person to leave the package or shipment. The key to the box is not provided to the courier delivery person and therefore, they have no access to the box. There is also a possibility that the package can be bigger in size and will not fit in the box. Another reason why courier services do not send shipment to a P.O. Box is the accountability of the delivery. It is required to track the package before it reaches the final destination and is received by the receiver. Leaving a package at a P.O. Box is not considered successful and complete delivery and therefore, a courier company is held responsible in case of lost package.

Post office could be used for sending the shipment to a P.O. Box. Occasionally, courier companies such as messenger service in Chicago can also hand over the package to the post office for delivering such items. Thus, a customer should be aware that it is not always possible to send a package to a P.O. Box through courier delivery.
