Can I Refuse Goods Which Are Shipped To Me Cod?

COD is a special kind of shipping, and because of that

, if you're having an LA courier delivery something to you on a COD basis, you need to know that different rules apply. There are actually laws which address COD shipping in order to ensure that customers are protected from potential abuses that could otherwise take place.

So what is COD Shipping? Essentially, if something is being sent to you on a COD basis, it means that you haven't paid for the package before it gets to you. COD stands for collect on delivery. When a COD delivery is normally made, you will order your goods, and then pay for them after they have been delivered. There are situations though where you may feel that what was shipped to you was not what you wanted, or some other reason you no longer want the goods. When this happens, these laws which are in place entitle you to always refuse anything which is sent to you COD.

There are certain situations where you may indeed want to refuse something that is shipped to you COD. The primary reason that this law is in place is to protect consumers when something is shipped to them which is not what they intended to order. This could happen for instance, if the product became damaged somehow during transit or, worse yet, if the seller misrepresented the product or engaged in false advertising of any kind in order to make a sale. If this is the case, you would have every right to refuse that shipment, and probably should.

It's important that consumers realize that this isn't a right to be abused however. The ability to refuse a COD shipment is a consumer protection law that is there for a reason. It is not there so that you can order something then change your mind about wanting to pay for it, and so refuse it.

If you do refuse something COD with a legitimate reason, then you shouldn't experience any problems. Most honest companies will be happy to correct any error they made in shipping the product to you. If you refuse an order without a good reason though, you do need to be prepared to face the consequences. When a company has a customer refuse a COD shipment for what they deem to be an abusive reason, they have every right to not offer that customer a COD shipping option again in the future.
