Insomnia is a sleep disorder from which millions all over the world suffer People who suffer from this uncomfortable sleep disorder lie in bed at night, tossing and turning, desperately trying to force themselves to fall sleep. But the harder they try the more difficult they find it to fall asleep.

The problem, to a very large extent, lies in their attitude to sleep their mental attitude. When people who have suffered from insomnia for a long time, before they go to be at night they are convinced they are going to have difficulties falling asleep.


They have virtually resigned themselves to the fact that they suffer from severe insomnia and they are going to have problems falling asleep.

If you suffer from insomnia, it is very important to remember that insomnia is not a disease it's a sleep disorder. Disorders can be cured. Insomnia can certainly be cured.

A very common feature of most disorders is that they are the result of certain habits that have become ingrained in one's behavior patterns.

Insome respects this sleep disorder is similar to another common disorder an eating disorder. An eating disorder, more often than not, is the result of bad eating habits.

A sleep disorder is also the result of bad habits before you go to bed.

How do you change bad habits? It's not all that complicated. You replace your bad habits with good habits.

To cure your insomnia your sleep disorder make a point of establishing certain good habits every night before retiring to bed. Let your habits become a ritual. A "ritual" is described in the dictionary as a "prescribed order of performing certain acts.

The wordRITUAL itself is usually associated with acts that have some religious significance that are termed "rites". But in order for these acts to be effective there's not need for religion to be involved in any way.

Here are six simple suggestions of acts you can perform as part of your insomnia cure ritual before going to sleep.

Make a point of performing certain very light exercises before going to bed. They do not have to be vigorous exercises. In fact it's better if they are not strenuous. But perform exactly the same exercises every time.

Stand at an open window and perform certain definite deep breathing exercises to a specific count and a specific number of times. Here again be very rigid in following the identical process every night before retiring.

Have a certain very light meal or drink perhaps a glass of warm milk with honey or a small piece of good quality, black chocolate.

Brush your teeth and as you do so, mentally count up to a fixed pre-determined number.

Turn your pillow over a fixed number of times, or pat it a fixed number of times.

Listen to a certain piece of pre-recorded light music that you find especially soothing and relaxing.

These are merely suggestions. Obviously you can follow any actions you choose. But it's important to remember that you MUST perform the identical actions the same ritual - every night before going to bed.
