Can infidelity be attributed to the chemical neurotransmitters in the brain

Much has been written on infidelity and love. It is a well-established fact that the release of the chemical Dopamine stimulates the relay of the feel good in the brains, when in love. It gives the individual a feeling of high. Other chemicals like endorphin and or cannaboids also induce similar feel of ecstasy. Apparently endorphin and cannaboids can also be found in Marijuana. The life of these chemicals are short lived it is not constant factor and subsides after a time some where from 18 months to 1 year being the maximum.

According to a study conducted by university of Pavia, Italy, it was found that, while in love a the learning abilities of the individual is enhanced. A special chemical spike the brain (NGF) meaning the Nerve Growth Factor. It creates new brain cells to grow and connect to each other, an important process for learning. Its life span is a year too.

Experts are of the opinion that among others, serotonin neurotransmitters in brain apparently causes an individual to be obsessive, prone to depression or violence. It is because of this chemical apparently that an individual resorts to stalking and being impulsive when a relationship goes sour. This could possibly be when the level of Dopamine begins to go down.

Thus an individual in love always feels good and positive as long as the life of the chemicals like Dopamine, endorphin and or cannaboids exists. However, it is not a constant factor it dies away eventually, taking away the excitement and fizz out of the relationship too. Have we not heard of the saying" "Passion you fulfill is Passion you Kill" The feel good is temporary. Apparently, once these chemicals begin to subside; a totally opposite feeling of boredom and of routine sets in. This is the time where most of the relationships begin to fail, a time when partners begin to go astray and look for greener pastures, when partners are more than willing to give in to infidelity, provoked by the urge o hang on to the feel good factor. Cheating on the partner becomes a highly irresistible factor. It is like having to choose between the boredom and a chance to experience the high all over again. Naturally, Infidelity then becomes an exciting option. Could then infidelity be the consequence of the chemical neurotransmitters in the brain? I guess so! Isn't it? Mind you I am not justifying infidelity.

Infidelity is definitely not the answer in a relationship. It brings about heartache and pain to everyone involved. I would suggest, instead of resorting to infidelity as a medium to feel good, why not channelize the energy in a different direction, may be pursue an hobby, interest, or further education, may be marriage and starting a family. This can induce a sense of achievement .The related success that follows, will guarantee you self-satisfaction in the process, create a feeling of well being, security and stability.
