Canadas Liberals Give Peek To New World Green Economy

It has been quite week thus far in climate issues

. Especially considering the hacked e-mail accounts of the CRU (Climate Research Unit) essentially discussing the cover-up of climate change information.

On the heels of Brack Obama releasing climate change targets yesterday, and China announcing it's aggressive plan to reduce intensity of pollution to 40% below 2005 levels, a change on how China operates, Stephen Harper announcing he will attend the Copenhagen summit harper, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff has released his climate plan for the future today at Laval University Laval, Quebec.

Much can be said by truly examining what Ignatieff is saying in his 'speech' today. He began by stating that the idea of a carbon tax is off the table, and he is officially adapting a US and World standard cap-and-trade system. He plans to implement a very aggressive target of 20% below 1990 levels, similar of the of the EU.

Harper, Ignatieff states, has failed to protect jobs. Has been a sabateur in international climate change negotiations. Harper, and if you dare believe, also thinks climate change is a "socialist plot".

What needs to be implemented, according to Ignatieff, is the development of a clean, reneweable energy economy. One that will be quickly put in to place, to become global, binding, and leads to absolute reactions in the amount of carbon pollutions. This trade system will "put a price on carbon. You pollute, you pay. You go green and clean, you get paid - or receive credits". Ignatieff plan intends to cover all of Canada "all industries, with no exceptions".

A new economy is one that we perceive as "needed". With the World's "financial meltdown" just more than a year ago, and some bubbling under the surface of a 'double dip recession', needs for the World to act as one, calls for a new global currency, a new financial world order, one that involves China and will ensure dominance of WTO like systems which serve, mostly, large corporations and not individuals, which privatize most of a countries natural resources, further raping the land (which is not green at all), and put a cost on, like Ignatieff says, EVERYTHING! This speech speaks volumes on the coming era of the financial system with which we live. Cap-and-trade, carbon tax, liberal, conservative, green party, it doesn't matter. It will all involve new business, new controls on ever facet of our live, and increased cost of living for everyone. All in the name of "saving the environment".

10 to 15 years from now, Ignatieff predicts, all cities and streets will be lit by LED lighting. We will also adpot the tougest vehicle emissions standards in North America.

This market that Ignatieff, the US, and EU, would have carbon pollution credits to be auctioned off and their value set by market forces. It would ensure buying and selling of credits in an international market. Ignatieff assures us that "this trade will be the engine of our system. We will harness the force of business to protect our planet."

Why on earth, should we harness the force of business to protect our planet? Is that really such a bright idea? Provide me with a list of businesses that have done ANYTHING good for our planet, and I'll provide you with a book of businesses that have helped destroy it, and it's peoples.

How will this occur? Why through a new Clean Energy Act that would improve coordination between the various laws that govern energy and the environment. This will help ensure the tougest vehicle emissions standards in North America.

This means your old vehicles will essentially need to be taken off the road. Purchase new hybrid vehicles. Use 'clean' ethenol gas. Have you checked the price of hybrid > vehicles lately?

It will ensure that the Government will "clean up everything we shoot up the stack - not just carbon pollution, but the other forms of pollution that harm our health and cities".

That's funny. I remember reading something similar a while ago about cleaning up what gets shot up the stack due to environment regulation. In the past, there were issues when the phosphate industry released hydrofluorosilicic acid from it's 'stacks' that scorched vegetation, destroyed crops, and crippled cattle. That is, until the EPA, ensured that 'wet scrubbers' be used in these stacks in order to capture the hydrofluorosilic acid, also known as Fluoride acid, or Fluoride. Two companies in the US essentially hold a monopoly on this product. This product is considered a hazardous material. This product is also added to our drinking water.

By implementing this single law, would help develop a new National freshwater strategy. "Our water is a national treasure. It's also a national responsibility". It would develop a strong Northern strategy for Canada's arctic. Canada's aboriginal will benefit, because they will be helped to "adapt to climate change".

Really? The aboriginal require OUR help to adapt to climate change? Just like they needed OUR help to convert to the Catholic church?

The law will defend our sovereignty over the Northwest Passage, will set rules for using it, and will ensure clear rules about what can and cannot be done in the Arctic, where by whom, and how.

Read: The Government will control every inch of the Artic. And will determine what will be done to it, and will favour who it wants.

The Government would ensure environmental performance would be integral on any business seeking government contracts. It would put climate change adaption at the center of our international development policy.

Ignatieff ends "We can take these steps, right now".

We most certainly can, and we most certainly will. The Copenhagen summit will have a long reaching affect on us. Our dreams of our green generation for our green future, may come to fruition. Are you truly prepared for the cost?
