Canadian Diamond Traders - Is it a Scam ?
Canadian Diamond Traders (CDT) is an interesting MLM concept. In my investigations I have found most MLMs to be pretty much the same. A pyramid of a certain width and certain depth. You try to recruit people under you and train them to do the same. Your recruiter and his/her recruiter are essentially your competition as you want the people to come in under you and not under them.
However Canadian Diamond Traders (CDT) have done things a bit differently here because your recruiter and his recruiter and his recruiter are NOT your competition. At least not for the first while anyways.
It is this difference in structure that has caused me to rate this opportunity relatively higher than the other ones out there. In my searching through Google I was unable to find a clear explanation of how CDT works so I just called them and got my questions answered over the phone. By the way I am not a member and therefore you can relax knowing this isn't a sales pitch. Here is the basics of what I found out:
There are 2 programs you can enter. One is the main program costing $500 + $20 admin fee the other is the feeder program costing $100 +$20 admin fee. They both work essentially the same way except when you cycle out of the $100 program that commission is used to automatically enter you into the $500 main program. So if you want to earn money fast you have to risk more. If you are leary about these MLMs you can opt for the cheaper feeder program.
When you first join you are known as a "Miner". There are 4 positions: Miner, Cutter, Polisher & Collector. When you join you enter a "table" and your goal is to find other people to join of course. However unlike traditional MLMs you aren't looking for people to join "under" you but "with" you, at least for the first phase. A table needs 8 miners in order to proceed to the next phase. So for example if you happened to be lucky enough to join a table that already has 7 miners then you would be the 8th and immediately advance to the Cutter position. But worse case scenario you join as the first Miner you now need to work to find 7 more in order to advance to Cutter. However you aren't alone because everyone above you is working towards the same goal. No matter who recruits the next person they go into the next position in the table. Whether its you or one of the cutters above you or the polishers above them or the collector at the top, everyone is working together to fill the remaining 7 positions in the miner line.
With this structure there is always a minimum of 8 people at any one time working towards the same goal. When the table has 7 miners and only one position left then there are 14 people working to fill that last position. Hopefully you can see how this contributes to teamwork. If someone has a prospect but they aren't very good at sales or explaining the program they can invite a cutter or polisher or the collector to explain things better and there is no risk of you losing that prospect because regardless of who closes the deal the prospect will go into the same position.
Once the 8 miner positions are filled the table "splits". The software apparently decides who goes where, I assume it's based on performance i.e. not all the best recruiters get to stay together but I don't really know what the splitting criteria is.
When the table splits then the person who was the collector cycles out and collects their commission or gets their entry into the $500 table (depending in which table he cycles out of). It's at this point where half of your previous team members will now become your competition as they know belong to a new table. But even still, this structure in my opinion is still more teamwork oriented than the traditional A x B MLM matrix structures out there.
The end goal of course is to cycle out of the $500 table where you will get a $2500 marketing fee and a diamond valued at $1900 or so. If you would like to know more you can read my full review.
