Benny Rogosnitzky - a visionary philanthropist with a smooth charm and rich voice
, is a renowned Cantor. His passion for music has brought him accolades and is acknowledged universally. Born in Liverpool, England, Benny Rogosnitzky did his early schooling in The Netherlands and Johannesburg. It was the great Cantor Johnny Gluck who spotted the talent in him and took him under his wings. Benny as a young boy then joined his choir as a soloist. There after it was not turning back. At the age of 16, after arriving in England he was invited to join and lead the High Holiday Services at prestigious Brighton and Hove Synagogue. He then pursued his studies in Jewish Studies in the Manchester Yeshiva and Music and art at Royal Manchester School from where he earned his Masters-Degree in Music.
Prior to becoming a Cantor, Benny Rogosnitzky has shown his love for music in form of prayers and even attended as a guest lecturer at the Yale Conservatory of Music. Having produced several concerts around the world, he then took his skills and talents to other areas as well. It was during his association with the late international financier Edmund Saffa that led him into organizing many of his successful charitable functions.
Bringing out the benevolent side of him, Cantor Benny was involved in Jewish outreach to enhance the need for a more inclusive Jewish community. Intended to create a meaningful life for people, Cantor Benny was well know in both the USA and Israel. He was later conferred the senior cantor post of the prestigious Jewish Center and his service lasted for 13 years.
It was during the year 2003 that Cantor Benny found Cantors World along with Charlie Bernhaut. The center was intended to help infuse interest in traditional chazzonus through creative and quality programs. It was widely successful in those days and most of the show would result sold-out crowds. The popularity would bring in varied audience from even the extreme secular background. Cantor Benny Rogosnitzky was instrumental in promoting the role of cantor that brought about both dignity and beauty to the prayer service.
