1.Beware of blind spots. Adjust your rear-view mirror and your side mirrors to provide you with the best view possible of what is happening behind you. Also, turn to look directly into the lanes beside you, which will allow you so see anything that is not visible through your mirrors. Consider the blind spots for other drivers around you, especially lorry drivers.

By maintaining this position, you arms wont get tired and you will be in the best position for some last minute manoeuvres.
4.If a car is in poor condition, with a dirty windscreen, scratched bodywork and general damage, it could indicate an inattentive driver. If a driver is drifting from one lane to the next it could indicate a drunken driver or a distracted driver, so steer well clear.
5.Ensure your car is well maintained. Book it in for a 12 month service, and always check lights, tyres, indicators, brakes and windscreen wipers regularly. If indicators are light bulbs need replacing, you may be able to do this yourself, or take your car to a qualified mechanic to be checked over.
6.Some people prefer to travel at night to avoid traffic, but there are certain hazards linked with driving at night. In addition to your own increased fatigue, you need to drive extra carefully on unlit roads.
7.Never drive too close to the vehicle in front. If they stop quickly because of an accident or traffic queue, you are likely to plough into the back of them.
8.Avoid distractions while you are driving. If you want to eat, drink or make a phone call, pull over to a safe spot and do it there. Drivers who make mobile phone calls while driving are four times more likely to have an accident than other drivers.
9.Avoid road rage. If someone cuts you up or nearly causes an accident, let the pass. There is nothing worse than avoiding a near-miss then causing one yourself, because you are blinded by rage. Think of the consequences. Its just not worth it!
10.Stick to the speed limit. If you are driving too fast, you are more likely to lose control of your vehicle all together, and cause a serious accident.
