in the marketplace, the occupational outlook for jobs in research and development is excellent, despite the current recession. Research and development technicians, scientists and engineers work in a variety of industries and capacities, both in the UK and around the world.
Research and development is the process through which new product ideas are developed, tested, refined and introduced into the marketplace. There are many different types of jobs within the field of research and development (R&D). Many R&D departments hire entry level technicians, and senior level scientists and engineers. R&D jobs are available in nearly any industry, but some types of companies are more dependent upon research than others. The pharmaceutical and technological industries, in particular, spend a large portion of their budget on research and development activities.
People who begin research careers early in their academic life do very well.If you have an interest in the sciences in your school days, then it may be a good idea to pursue a career in this area. These people often begin as student assistants in graduate school, or even as undergraduates. The assistant period allows the researcher to become familiar with all the technical aspects of research.

People with Bachelor's degrees may be able to find employment as research assistants, and many university programs offer student assistant positions. The area of educational training should be allied closely with the field in which one wishes to pursue research.
There are many aspects to research and development which include medical related scientific services, scientific analysis, scientific research and scientific technical support. All these areas have a multitude of Job roles which include laboratory technicians, microbiologists, clinical research staff, biomed engineers and forensic scientists to name just a few.
It is a challenging career choice but incredibly rewarding and stimulating. You will forever be learning something new and working on different projects.
