Nowadays, being an MBA is the latest fad

Nowadays, being an MBA is the latest fad. After the completing graduation or during the last year of the graduation, most of the MBA aspirants take the CAT exam. Common Admission Test is the exam to get admission in the IIMs and other top management colleges of the country. IIMs are the best management institutes in the country and are acclaimed all over the world. Every year, more than two lakh students appear for CAT and the competition is really tough for IIM and other reputed institutes because the seats in every institute are very limited.

Till last year, CAT exam was paper-based test, but from this year CAT will be a Computer-based test. Now a candidate will read the questions and choose the correct answer on a computer in the allotted exam center. Instead of a single day exam, CAT will be conducted during ten days span for various students where they will have different set of questions of the similar difficulty level. Other than this, there will be no change in the format of the CAT exam.

For applying to the CAT exam, a candidate must hold a Bachelors degree, with at least 50% mark or equivalent CGPA. In case a candidate belongs to SC/ ST or person with some physical disability required minimum 45% marks to apply. He/ She should have a recognized degree by the UGC or the Ministry of HRD, government of India. Candidates should have Bachelors degree or equivalent with minimum three years of duration after the completion of 10+2 (Higher Secondary School Examination). Candidates in their final year of graduation/equivalent or those whose result is awaited are also eligible for the CAT exam. They must submit a certificate from the Principal / Head of the Department/ Registrar/ Director of the University / Institution certifying that he / she is currently in the final year awaiting final results.

When we go for any kind of exam, we always want to give our best in the available time. But sometime we end up doing some mistakes and all are hopes shattered because of those few mistakes. Most of us make some common errors during the exam and to avoid that we should always make a checklist of things in mind when we fill the application. Id suggest that you keep a copy of the checklist handy as you fill out the form and tick each item as you complete it. Check the form again to ensure that its error-free. Read all the instruction carefully so that you will not miss any point while filling the form.

Points to note:

Read the data on every page very carefully before clicking the Next button and always make sure that you have not left anything in the best of your knowledge.

The boxes for address do not allow any special characters (e.g. / , . ). So if your address contains these characters, use a space or a hyphen (-) at their place.

Exam Pattern:

The CAT question paper has four different segments: Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation. These multiple choice questions are mandatory to be answered only with an HB pencil on a computer coded OMR answer sheet. For each incorrect answer, you get negative marks. There is negative marking for each wrong answer, so be very careful while answering them. Every year, the IIMs change the question pattern to prevent predictability. You should, therefore, develop a deeper understanding of concepts and their applications to succeed in the CAT. It is to be noted that you have to perform well in all the three sections of the CAT as the test evaluates the overall aptitude of the student and on these marks their admission depends.
