Spaniels were normally bred for sports and hunting purposes but they are mostly used as a family pet these days. Due to their hunting instinct, they can get out of control sometimes. So, it is recommended that you train them before it gets too late.

After you bring spaniel in your home, you must establish his territory to make the training process easy. Establishing territory means giving him separate space for eating his food, sleeping and spending his time. It also includes introducing him to the specific area for doing his potty. If you go on training your dog on a simple but strict schedule, then you can get maximum benefit from it. Every dog loves routine and they feel secure when they have the idea about what's going to happen next.

Though Charles spaniels are not known for barking excessively, you must teach them when it is suitable for barking and when it is not. It would be really embarrassing if your dog barks at everyone who comes in your home including yourself. So, teach them those things from the start.

When your puppy will be 2-3 months old, you should teach him the basic commands like "Sit", "Come", "Stay", etc. It would be far better if you teach them how to walk without having a leash too. If you don't teach him even by that period, then it will be too late to train your spaniel.

These dogs are excellent breed for hunting and retrieving. As they are filled with extreme curiosity, you can teach them new things easily. Time also matters a lot in the process of Charles Spaniel training. They learn the things quickly when they are in a playful mood. So, attract your puppy with his favorite toy and create the playful mood. If training sessions are fun and filled with excitements, it will be a lot easy to train them. Never train your dog when you are in hurry, frustrated or angry because your mood can highly determine your dog's nature.
