Celebrity gossip has become something of a phenomenon and taken to the extreme over the last few years

. It seems no one is safe from the controversy. Personally, I think a lot of celebs bring this on themselves though. For example, you have the great ""photographs"" of celebs like Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears that were, how shall I say, a little more personal than we would have liked. But these pics could have just as well been stopped before it started! Celebrity gossip websites and television shows have popped up all over the place such as Entertainment Weekly, Talk Soup, The Surreal Life and many others which have grown in their popularity. Most of the reason behind this is simply because us ordinary people love to see Celebs going through the same things we do.

Celebrity blogging is another fad that has taken off as well with people writing blogs on the Internet talking about the latest in celebrity gossip. Major and minor celebs alike go on sites such as Myspace, Facebook, and even Twitter to talk amongst their fans about what is going on in their daily lives. Another major source of gossip are these celebrity gossip forums which you can find all kinds of info on artists and celebs alike. Also, on these forums you can find other kinds of information as well. For instance, one forum I visited had a mixture of celebrity gossip, hip hop music, and hip hop album review options mixed in as well. Most of the celebrities that are ""reviewed"" on these kinds of sites and forums have some sort of fun with it, however, a few celebrities do get upset over what they must feel is an invasion of their privacy.

This comes with the territory of being in the spotlight, though. The fascination on celebrities and the lives they lead shouldn't surprise anyone, even if it doesn't interest you in particular, there are hundreds of thousands of other people who are interested. The celebrity gossip has changed from talking at the water-cooler to a much larger scale. There are tons of different celebrity gossip magazines that litter the checkout aisles of supermarkets, celebrity gossip websites are blooming and growing every day and television shows are the next generation of celebrity gossip. Even a few years back, I saw a Webmaster online that had a celebrity website and he had over 1 MILLION viewers every day.

That's amazing! Name another niche website that can bring in THAT many people a day! No matter where you go as a celebrity, you aren't safe from the gossip. Even if you haven't done anything to make the news that doesn't mean you won't get harassed by the media in hopes that you create some brand new celebrity gossip - which by the way, you usually do!
