Cfa Level 1: The First Stage To Pass The Cfa Exam

The CFA exam is one of the prestigious competitive exams conducted by the CFA institute

. A CFA aspirant should be a graduate degree holder and should have at least 48 months of work experience. The CFA exam is divided into three stages and each exam is of three hours. Here we will discuss about CFA level 1. All the three exams are conducted on paper and the first exam is administered twice a year. The first stage focuses on the introduction to financial reporting and analysis and asset valuation. The syllabus of the level 1 consists of the following subjects.

Ethical and professional standards- This section of the syllabus focuses on rules and ethics that should be followed when one is managing the monetary issues or when issuing research reports. This is concerned with the proper and legitimate use of the designation conferred upon the charter holders. The Code and Standards state the rules and regulations that CFA charter holders need to follow in their practice.

Quantitative methods- (This section comprises of statistics, time series analysis, time value of money, hypothesis testing etc.)

Economics- (In this section both micro-economics and macro-economics are covered.)

Financial reporting & Analysis-(This section includes topics related to financial reporting, financial statement analysis etc.)

It is important to know the breakdown of the entire syllabus of the CFA level 1 in order of the percentage of the questions which are likely to come in the actual exam. The first section comprises of 155 of questions per exam. The quantative method paper includes 12% of questions per exam. . The economics exam consists of 10% of questions per exam. Financial reporting and analysis consists of 20% while the fixed income questions consist of 12& of the questions per exam. Derivatives and Alternative investment consists of 5% and 3% of question per exam respectively.
