Changes In Federal Skilled Program Will Make The Immigrants More Successful

Federal Skilled program has been improvised by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)

. It is suggested that the changes have been brought to help the immigrants settle down better in Canada.

According to the changes the eligibility criteria for applying under this category would be

Skilled workers who will have an offer of Arranged employment from a valid employer in Canada can apply.

International students who are enrolled in PhD program in any of the registered Canadian Universities in a province or territory can apply.

These students should have completed a minimum of 2 years of study for PhD and they should not hold an award which demands them to return back to their home countries for applying heir learnings.

An international student who has completed a PhD degree from a Canadian University not before 12 months before the application date.

Each year a maximum of one thousand applications will be processed under this category.

The changes will be effective from January 1, 2013. They aim to prepare the applicantsunder this category in a better way so that they can get an employment sooner than they expect and can also apply for Permanent residency Status.

The Modifications

It is known to all that 2011 had experienced about 37% of the immigrants coming under this category which is the largest in itself. In another report it was indicated that the majority of the immigrants coming under this category were not satisfied with their jobs and had a tough time in settling down in the society.

A study was conducted by CIC to understand the probable causes and solutions to this problem. It was concluded in this study that the immigrants lack proficiency in language which was a major hindrance in their settlement process. It was getting difficult for them to find a place and adjust in Canadian Society due the capacity toexpress and exchange their views.

They also lacked the required skills which did not allow them to get a job according to their choice. It finally led them to pick a job which was not of their choice and was meant only to meet only their survival needs.

This is precisely the reason why it is important for an immigrant applicant to know either of the two official languages that is English or French. An applicant not conversant with any of the two languages will not get a good score.

In the absence of an arranged employment immigrants had to settle down with any job coming their way only to meet the daily needs of life. In the process they would feel frustrated and unsuccessful. Hence the changes assure that an applicant under this category should have an Arranged Employment.
