Changing Career-keeping The Balance
If life were perfect, we would all have beautifully balanced lives
. We would have equal time for work, equal time for family, and equal time for ourselves. But you've already figured out that life isn't that simple.
With the cost of living these days, many people find themselves having to work many hours to make ends meet. It often takes two incomes just to be able to live a modest life. There are single women with children who find that they have to work two jobs just to cover their basic needs.
Most people will spend at least ten hours a day dealing with work. This includes time spent working, a lunch break, and the commute to and from work. If you include the time it takes you to get ready in the morning, it may be even longer. That's a heck of a lot of time! By the time you get home from work, you may only have three or four hours of free time before you have to go to bed and get up and do it all over again. This can take quite a toll on you.
So be sure to take some time each day, even if it's a few minutes here and there, to take some time for yourself and put some balance back into your life. You can do things like take a walk during your lunch break. This is not only great for relieving stress, it is healthy for you both mentally and physically. You can also make sure to eat healthy lunches and snacks.
If you are feeing stressed, you can use your lunch break to take a drive somewhere or park your car somewhere peaceful. Or just sit and listen to some relaxing music.
Work does not always have to be all about work. There are many opportunities within your workday to take time for yourself. It's just a matter of being creative with your time and make the effort.
The same is true for all areas of your life. It seems that we all have one area of our life that pulls at us more than another. While some people spend most of their waking hours working, others may spend most of their time taking care of the kids and the house.
No matter what you spend most of your time doing, it is important to do your best to have some balance. Spending too much time in one area of your life and not enough in another will eventually create a heap of challenges for you later on down the road. So it's best to take a look at your life now so that you can avoid losing your balance and ending up in a ditch.
