Char Dham Yatra possesses its own feature and significance. Like the Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Kedarnath is dedicated to lord Shiva, Gangotri to Goddess Ganga and Yamnotri to Goddess Yamuna.
Kedarnath
Kedarnath is a blissful destination covered by the Char Dham Yatra located at an altitude of 3,584 meters. This pilgrimage center is devoted to Lord Shiva in the vicinity of Uttranchal valley. Kedarnath is the one among the twelve Jyotirlings of Lord Shiva. The temple prevailing at this place is said to be built by Adi Shankaracharya. The temple built with grey color stones includes the Nandi bull formed by the natural rocks. The other excursions of this Char Dham yatra destination include the religious Shiv Kund, Hans Kund, Ret Kund and Rudhir Kund.
Badrinath
The Badrinath temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu is located at an altitude of 3,133 meter. The temple is divided into three parts namely, Sabha Mandap, Darshan Mandap and Garbha Griha. The Sabha Mandap is the place where devotees assemble, The Darshan Mandap is a place to conduct the rituals and the sacrosanct Garbha Mandap.
Gangotri
Gangotri, this is the most gorgeous location prevailing in the Uttanchal region. It is believed that this was the only place where the holy river Ganga touched the earth for the first time. This most sacred destination covered by Char Dham Yatra was constructed by Amar Singh Thapa in the 18 century. This Char Dham tour destination opens every year in the month of May at Akshaya Tritiya.'
Yamnotri
The fourth and the last destination of Char Dham Yatra, the Yamnotri temple was built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. The sacred temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and is placed at an altitude of 3,235. The other attractions of this Char Dham pilgrimage center are Surya Kund, Divya Shila, Hanumanchatti and Sayanachatti.
