The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the DTS with the 4.6L V8 engine returns fifteen miles per gallon in city driving and twenty-three miles per gallon on the highway. The engine delivers this performance to the front wheels through a four speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The vehicle also has a maximum towing capacity of one thousand pounds. The DTS features a long list of standard features including dual-zone climate control, front and rear anti-lock brakes, the On-Star communication system, an AM/FM stereo with CD and MP3 capability, and an automatic leveling system. The DTS is a very safe vehicle; the U.S. government has returned four star ratings for passenger front, front side, and rear side crash tests. The government has also given the vehicle a four star rating for its rollover test. A five star rating was returned by the U.S. government for front driver collisions.
