Chelsea Handler Tickets - On Hand For L.a. Gay And Lesbian Center Gala

Chelsea Handler is one of the most outspoken figures in the entire entertainment industry

, and the anything-goes comedian has been a huge voice for the LGBT community over the past several years, easily becoming one of the most dedicated straight allies working in conjunction with places such as the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. The Gay & Lesbian Center recently held its 38th Anniversary Gala and Auction at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, and Handler took a comfortable role as host of the soiree, bringing comic relief to the star-studded event.

Handler, extremely well-known for her clever quips and no-boundary burns, opened the evening at the Gala and Auction with a bout in her classic style of borderline inappropriate humor, saying, "I'm a little confused as to why I'm here, because I've hosted over 50 events for the gay and lesbian community this past year and assumed all of the problems had been solved." Handler's involvement in the LGBT-friendly event helped to raise $445,000 during the evening, and the comedian even offered her own trade as part of the auction, with one of the items up for bid during the Oct. 24 event being a package deal for four VIP tickets to attend a taping of Handler's comedy show Chelsea Lately.

Other items up for bid during the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's 38th Anniversary Gala and Auction included several high-priced items such as a walk-on role for an episode of the Neil Patrick Harris comedy TV series How I Met Your Mother, a three-night stay at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Cabo San Lucas, four tickets to see Shrek the Musical on Broadway and a private dance lesson with the show's choreographer, VIP tickets to a taping of Dancing with the Stars and many, many more items, as well. The evening was an absolute success, and with the vivacious Chelsea Handler leading the way, other comedians in attendance such as Wanda Sykes easily took the backseat to Handler's over-the-top humor and steal-the-show one-liners.

Chelsea Handler is most comfortable in the spotlight, as she's had to fight for attention ever since growing up as the youngest of six children. A native of Livingston, New Jersey, Handler scored her first big break in comedy when she landed a starring role in Oxygen's reality comedy series Girls Behaving Badly. Handler clearly led the pack of hilarious women also including Melissa Howard, Shondrella Avery, Kira Soltanovich, Candy Ford and Victoria Schweizer, and it wasn't long before the quick-witted vixen was a regular on television programs like The Tonight Show.

In 2007, Handler became the star of her own late night comedy talk show called Chelsea Lately airing on E!, and it was from here that this say-anything comedian started to be recognized among late night's elite such as Jay Leno, David Letterman and Conan O'Brien. Despite being one of the few saucy ladies in the industry, Chelsea Handler has staked her claim in late night comedy, continuing to score laughs left and right as her bedroom talk and celebrity zings have helped boost her stock. Handler is also a regular on the comedy circuits, and Chelsea Handler tickets to her several standup shows have sold like crazy as the world tries to take a better look at this late night queen.
