Sporting Index's season points index suggest that United will wrestle the title back from the West London outfit, although that could change if Chelsea manage to beat them at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. United don't have a great recent record at the Bridge, losing five and drawing three of the past eight contests there. Spread bettors who are on United's side in the long-term season markets will take more encouragement from the fact that United are now unbeaten in 21 Premier League games and a win this weekend would push them six points clear of Chelsea with a game in hand.

This is the first real test of Carlo Ancelotti's career at Stamford Bridge and his team certainly aren't playing with the confidence they have shown over the past year and a half. Goals have been a problem and spread sellers will be pleased that the Blues haven't scored more than one match goal in their last seven league games. They haven't exactly been haemorrhaging goals at the other end, but it has to be a worry for their followers on the spreads that they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight league games.

Spread goals buyers will shudder when they discover that only two of Chelsea's last 12 league games have produced three goals. Spread sellers on the other hand will be delighted and will take even greater heart from the fact that six of the Blues' last seven home games against Big Four opposition have seen no more than two goals, as have six of the last ten meetings between them and United.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be thrilled with his team's current position and will be hoping to compound Chelsea's misery on Sunday. They beat Arsenal slightly more comfortably than the 1-0 margin suggested on Monday night but spread punters should note that, in five Big Four contests so far this season, the home side has won four with the other game finishing in a draw.

Goal minutes buyers on the spreads were cursing both Didier Drogba and Wayne Rooney for missing late penalties against Tottenham and Arsenal respectively in the past few days. Rooney has now managed to find the net just once in his last nine appearances for United across all competitions. It's not been a particularly good time for spread buyers of Drogba's goal minutes, either. The Ivorian, after an opening day hat-trick against West Brom, has scored just two in his last nine across all competitions. If total goal spread buyers are going to have a good day, they'll be hoping at least one of these guys can find their scoring touch.
