Chicago Mercedes G500 Dealerships Start Thinking Electric

Anyone out there old enough to remember the Eddie Grant song Electric Avenue

? It had a great beat, but I never did really get it. Well, now its starting to make sense as almost every major car maker has unveiled or has in the works a hybrid or electric vehicle.

We likely wont be driving them down the highways singing the 80s song, but they are becoming feasible for everyday use as more research is done and more cars are driven. Chicago Mercedes M-Class diesel customers can now look forward to the Mercedes version of the electric vehicle.

As the cost comes down for these battery-packing rides and the mileage range increases, we may just see them become mainstream. In fact, predictions are that these plug-in hybrids and sole electric vehicles will capture between two percent and five percent of U.S. car sales in the next 10 years. Chicago Mercedes G500 dealers look forward to getting a piece of this electric market and Mercedes is right in the game.

The main buyers on the early end of this electric transport development will be those, as we have seen with the hybrids, are environmentally conscious and have the money to spend when the price is still on the high side.

Chicago Mercedes M-Class diesel customers will want to follow the technology as it is launched and advanced. The Traffic Safety Administration estimates there will be 750,000 electrics on the road by 2020 and most car manufacturers will have a stake in that number.

Auto industry forecasters cite some of the factors of success and popularity of a new product as need and infrastructure. They give examples of telephones, radios and televisions which relied on infrastructure to some extent to be usable. The electric vehicle may face a similar road since the logistics of charging it will be a concern to mainstream buyers. Surely, though, some entrepreneur will come along on a white horse and set up some charging stables every 25 miles or so.

The fact remains; the rise in popularity will likely be slow and be impacted by environmental regulations and government incentives. This may be a benefit to Chicago Mercedes G500 buyers and others around the country. The time spent putting all the pieces in place may allow auto makers to adapt the technology of the electric vehicle to a much higher plane.

The price may also come down even further. In a survey, three-quarters of those who responded said they would expect to pay no more than $35,000 for an electric vehicle. This seems to be in the target range of many manufacturers today.

As for me, Im going to keep singing Electric Avenue and following the developments in mileage gains for the electrics and plug-ins. Or maybe Ill just go into business and set up some charging stations around town and see how it goes!
