Chicago Nissan News: The Juke Is Turning Heads

Looking a bit like Herbie on steroids, the new 2011 Nissan Juke is an eye-catcher that will certainly get its driver noticed

. Debuted at the International Geneva Auto Show a few months ago, the 2011 Nissan Juke was designed in Europe, which may explain its resemblance to a Volkswagen.

Chicago Nissan dealers are excited about the all the changes which are a twist on the sporty, tough usual SUV style. Nissan has boasted that the Juke offers a punchy, quick ride and it certainly brings something new to the rather repetitive world of SUVs.

Nissan even decided to go bold with the colors; nine are planned for the exterior, with some of the choices including solid white, pearl white, machine brown, haptic blue and force red. Quirky colors for a quirky vehicle in a good way, though. An integrated roof spoiler and hidden rear door handles add to the sleek look. The taillights also pick up the popular boomerang look of the current Nissan 370Z.

Lake County Nissan Rogue buyers will want to check out the new Juke, which seats five. With a roomy interior including a hidden cargo space and split 60/40 seats, this is the perfect family fun vehicle. The Juke also provides generous ground clearance and a high cabin for optimal driver viewing.

Some of the technological highlights include driver interface and an optional navigation system. Inspired by a motorcycle fuel tank, the center console is unique and shows that the Juke is no ordinary compact crossover, according to one Nissan official. Powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine boasting direct injection technology, the Juke also can be counted on to give an exciting ride.

Nissan has always been a company willing to stretch the envelope, to combine seemingly contradictory principles and make it work such as affordable and performance to create the original Z, or small footprint and big interior in the current Nissan cube, said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America. JUKE is about to shake up the market with a boldness, style and sense of fun that it has never seen before at a time when sales are exploding with buyers looking for just such a combination.

Customers of Chicago Nissan will be especially excited about the Integrated Control (I-CON) system drive mode selector, which has three response settings (throttle/transmission/steering). Normal is used for everyday driving. Sport comes into play for a more intense performance feel and Eco is used to attain maximum efficiency. I-CON adjusts throttle, transmission and steering feel to meet the drivers every whim.

I-CON also acts as a central command center and display module, showing different display colors and functions according to use. In Climate mode, the display shows the interior temperature settings and the buttons display air flow preferences. In the D-Mode, buttons change to the three driving modes and the display shows engine and drive-related dials and information.
