The body's potassium gets out of whack and this causes a host of physical symptoms like dehydration, altered mental state and sometimes even a coma can occur if the problem is not caught in time. This wonked out potassium production is usually misdiagnosed at first which is why, if you are not feeling well you insist that your doctor be as thorough as possible in diagnosing you. You don't want to be sent home with a prescription for antibiotics when the real problem is diabetes!

Feet problems are a well known issue for diabetics. Poor circulation is usually the reason for these problems. If you notice tingling in your hands and/or feet, contact your doctor. It is especially important for diabetics to monitor their hands and feet because of their circulation issues. You should call your doctor immediately if you notice sores on your feet that aren't healing. In most cases, you can be treated for this problem right in the doctor's office. Don't let the sores and tingling go unchecked. Most amputations in diabetes are needed because these symptoms were ignored. It is true that symptoms of diabetes can vary from person to person. Because of the different types of diabetes, it will affect everyone differently. Some people have no symptoms at all and the disease is only discovered when the person is tested for something else. Misdiagnoses happen even when a person shows all the symptoms. Ask your doctor to screen you for diabetes if you are suffering any of the symptoms mentioned above.
