According to the British "Daily Mail" report on Dec. 28, the wealthy Chinese tourists are expected to spend one billion pounds during the promotion sale in UK.

As the big spending power of Chinese tourists, the British media has created a new term of "Beijing pounds" with the base of "pound", to explain the pounds that Chinese have spent. The consuming of the Gucci Bags, the items of Burberry, LV and many other luxury brands is expected to account for one-third of sales in the luxury products industry.

In order to offer good service for Chinese customers, many shops in London has hired the Mandarin-speaking staffs to help them select the goods and checkout. One of London's most famous department store Selfridges worked with China Union Pay card, which was strongly helpful for raising the sales. On the first day's promotion sales after the Christmas, the second buyers did use CUP card, spending 1,200 pounds.

During that day, the sales had an increase of more than 40% than the same period last year. There are so many Chinese customers; the witnesses described the Selfridge as the Chinese market.

Retail analyst Jonathan de Mello said that the Chinese people have replaced the Russians and Arabs, as the UK's largest buyers of luxury goods consumer market. "Just like other customers, Chinese buyers are keen on more affordable products, which will be the most important element for the bloom of the promotion after Christmas."

30% of the UK luxury products consuming

Mello said that China's rapid economic growth has attracted the highly attention from the luxury industry. However, due to the high tax rates of imported goods, the prices of the luxury products are 20-30% higher than the original countries. In the past 2 years, the British pound against the RMB exchange rate fallen by 30%, and this raised the Chinese customers' shopping desire.
