Cholesterol is a fatty substance which flows in blood
. Our body produces cholesterol which is actually a waxy substance. Some cholesterol generated by the body while some comes from food we eat. Cholesterol is found in animal origin food like fish, egg, beef and dairy products. Fruits and vegetables don't contain cholesterol. Cholesterol is very necessary to keep our body functioning. About 80% of cholesterol is made by liver and rest by our food and diet what we eat.
Types of cholesterol:
Low-density lipoproteins (LDL or "bad" cholesterol): This type of cholesterol is build up in the walls of arteries. When the LDL circulates too much in the blood it blocks arteries. This will increase the chances of heart attacks and heart diseases. LDL is produced naturally in our body. This LDL is harmful to our health that's why it is called bad cholesterol.
High-density lipoproteins (HDL or "good" cholesterol): This HDL helps to keep LDL away to getting in to the arteries and to prevent to block it.HDL removes excess cholesterol from the blood. It prevents from heart attacks and heart disease that's why it is called good cholesterol.
Why cholesterol are important:
High level of cholesterol is major problem of heart diseases like heart attacks; heart stroke etc.the more cholesterol rises, so does your heart diseases risk also rises such as high blood pressure, heart attacks etctoo much flow of LDL slowly build up in your arteries walls that feed the heart and brains. If LDL mixed with other substances, it can form plaque; this can narrow your arteries. So always have to maintain cholesterol level equally.
To lower the cholesterol level:
To lower the level one has to stop eating saturated fats. Every day at least one should walk to reduce cholesterol level, walking keeps healthy. Even if you can't walk then perform other actives like cycling, gardening etc...The one who is over weighted as the weight raises the HDL level decreases and LDL level raises. So reduce weight by exercise or any other activity and try to eat good and smart diet, reduce the intake of saturated fats, and eat fruits and vegetables. If someone has extreme high cholesterol level they need to take treatment and take medicine and control their diet. Avoid tobacco and smoking.
Hypercholesterolemia: Abnormally high level of cholesterol is called hypercholesterolemia. It contains high level of LDL and lower function of HDL. This will cause heart diseases like heart attacks
Hypocholesterolemia: This is because of abnormally lower level of cholesterol. This will cause disease like depression, cancer, andcerebral hemorrhage.
So one does not have to maintain level of cholesterol it should increase nor decrease as both will affect our health.
