Clarke Quay Singapore A Rediscovery Of Entertainment

The Clarke Quay is located along the historical riverbanks of Singapore

. The Quay, named after the late Sir Andrew Clarke, who was Singapores second governor during the years 1873 1875, played a vital role in positioning the country as one of the core ports for the states of Perak, Sungei Ujong, Malay and Selangor states.

The Singapore River had thus become a hub for trade and business since modern Singapore was established. A number of barge lighters were used to transport goods and provisions to warehouses at Clarke Quay. However, after a long period of time, transportation of goods was halted by the government due to overpopulation and pollution reasons. The cargo services were relocated to a modern facility and Clarke Quay remained deserted for a time.

The Clarke Quay eventually recovered and was revamped into a commercial hub to boost tourism, economy and entertainment. After years of reconstruction and building new attractions, the Clarke Quay was renovated into a scenic waterfront property attracting people from around the world to enjoy its features and the activities that they offer.

Today, Clarke Quay houses over a dozen restaurants, clubs and shopping malls. As well as a vibrant nightlife, the clubs on Clark Quay also offers some of the finest music in the city, with a motley mix of karoke bars, live entertainment venues and the thumping beats of dance clubs aligning the scenic waterfront. The Ministry of Sound, Hooters and Crazy Horse Cabaret are among the many essential nightspots here and the bars are truly legendary, offering everything from old-world classy colonial ambience to stylishly bohemian haunts that draw in the hip-and-artsy crowds.

You can also find an array of floating tours (boat tours), cruises, dining options and pubs along the river. Furthermore, the Quay is also home to one of Singapores first G-Max reverse bungee ejection seats for an extreme experience; the Arena is another spectacle where two prominent magicians perform an illusion show.

A traveller is spoiled for choice at this entertainment zone. When looking for a Singapore hotel for all your accommodation requirements, a fine rest that comes to mind is the Raffles Hotel Singapore. Deemed a five star hotel in Singapore, this renowned lodging option provides you with the finest hospitality, facilities and classic elegance.
