To thoroughly clean your computer of the virus infecting it, you should keep on running your antivirus software until there is no more trace of the virus left in it. When your computer is already clean, infection- and virus-free, you can now then reconnect your computer to the Internet.

Also, you should check and follow up with the publisher of the antivirus software. This is so that you can make sure that you have the latest updates available. If there are no updates available, then it is best to download them immediately yourself. When you are through updating your antivirus software, you should run it again to make sure that your computer is already clean.

Just as they say, prevention is always better than cure. This does not only apply to people, but also to computers as well. Having good antivirus firewall software is helpful in protecting your computer from the different risks that being infected with a virus pose.
