I tested a 909 F3 with both an Aldila Voodoo and a UST ProForce v2
. Both models served as my three-wood and measured 15. I consider myself a good fairway wood player. I hit 3W from the tee regularly as well as from the fairway, rough, and even a waste bunker or two. I ask for a club that can keep the ball down when I need it, and I'm almost always working the ball left or right, often as a means of distance control. Finally I found it-the Titleist 909 F3 Fairway Wood.
All told, the 909F2 and 909 F3 perform rather similarly. The differences between them present a series of tradeoffs I'm not entirely certain I like.
A modern shape with a tour proven profile creates a deeper CG for added stability.
Stronger Loft
Half degree lower lofts versus 909F2 for a flatter ball flight and trajectory control.
Deep Face
Smaller, deeper face provides confidence for players who want shot control.
Multi Relief Sole
Sole contours minimize turf resistance and ensure the ground contact point remains forward reducing bounce and skip.
SureFit Swingweight Screw
Factory installed balance weight helps position the CG deep and provides precise head to shaft matching.
Precise Construction
Precision cast stainless steel body with a Carpenter steel face insert for lively feel and increased ball speed.
Aldila Voodoo fairway
A specially designed, one piece, carbon-fiber rib system keeps the shaft more concentric during the swing preventing ovaling for maximum energy transfer and added stability. Produces low-to-mid launch and low spin.
